Khanty-Mansiysk district sees 2017 oil output falling 1.6%

KHANTY-MANSIUSK, Nov 10 (PRIME) -- Oil production of Russia’s Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District may fall by 1.6% on the year to 235.6 million tonnes in 2017, the government of Russia’s largest oil producing region, which accounts for 43% of oil output, said in a statement on Friday.

In 2016, the region’s oil output also fell by 1.5%, which signals “consistent contraction of production due to a higher exploitation drilling and launches of new wells,” the government said.

The region plans to increase exploitation drilling by 13.4% on the year to 17.8 million meters, and to raise launches of new wells by 10.9% to 4,700.

The average daily oil production in the region will fall 1.4% to 645,000 tonnes in 2017 despite launches of new fields last year.

But the contraction did not affect the amount of oil refining in the region. “We plan to refine 6.1 million tonnes of oil in 2017, which is comparable to the level of 2016, and to produce 1.9 million tonnes of oil products,” the government said.
